A synthetic wig is made of fine plastic filaments. Excessive heat will cause damage. Please use caution around high heat sources. The heat will melt the fiber and cause it to look frizzy. Most of the time, a curling iron can smooth it out, but the fiber will lose a certain amount of body and resilience after having been heat-frizzed. If a little extra care is taken with your wig, you will extend the life of your wig and it will look absolutely stunning for a long time.

Don’t use expensive curling irons with settings such as 1, 2, 3, 4, etc or ceramic irons. Even on the lowest setting, these irons are too hot for synthetic fiber.
Styling aids with hi or low settings are preferred.
Please test before use.

PROPER USE OF CURLING IRON ON SYNTHETIC WIG FIBER

Option #1 (Straight to Curly)

When using a stove iron, heat it to a low warm temperature.
When using an electric curling iron, set it to low or medium (always start on low)
Take a section of hair and comb through it.
Wrap sectioned hair around the iron and hold it for 10-15 seconds.
For best results, spritz water unto wrapped hair, THEN slowly remove iron from hair, this will allow the hair to cool in shape of curl.
Repeat above steps until desired style is achieved.

Option #2 (Curly to Straight)

When using a stove iron, heat it to a low warm temperature.
When using an electric curling iron, set it to low or medium (always start on low)
Take a section of hair and comb through it.
Using the heated iron, slowly move it down the sectioned hair.
Repeat above steps until desired style is achieved.

Option #3
Mist the hair with a little plain water. Take a small strand of hair between clamp of curling iron and roll around barrel of iron. Keep hair moving around barrel, rolling evenly until all of strand has passed firmly under clamp. Don't rest iron on base of wig as it will create a roller mark. A slight steaming action will not harm fiber.

After curl is formed (not necessarily dry), remove the iron carefully, leaving the curl intact and being careful not to drag the ends out of the curl as this will make the curl uneven. If a looser curl is desired, work the hair with fingers while still warm. If a firmer curl is desired, let dry before combing.

Option #4
Heat rollers or a steam setter (such as a Caruso) may be used on synthetic fiber too. Roll each strand carefully around the roller keeping the ends smooth to reduce "fish-hooking", which makes the ends look fuzzy. Using end papers is recommended. Let the curls get completely cool before brushing or combing out the wig. If using the steam setters, it's a good idea to use a "duckbill" or other similar clip to hold the curls in until they're cool and dry.

Removing The Shine From Your Synthetic Wigs

Synthetic wigs are an economical way to deal with medical hair loss, natural hair loss, or if you just want to change up your style temporarily. Quality synthetic hair has a human like appearance and can typically only be picked out by the trained eye. Some benefits of synthetic hair are they have memory fibers and are low maintenance. Memory fiber means that the curl will bounce right back even after it has been wet. A draw back of the synthetic hair is they are not heat resistant, so you cannot use any curling irons, blow dryers, or flat irons on them. Even the oven or other sources of heat can damage synthetic wigs. Sometimes, the fibers have too much shine to appear natural.Have you ever received your synthetic wig just to find that it has that too shiny to be natural look, and wondered how to remove that shine? Here are two ways to remove that shine.

*The first tip is to apply some baby powder to the wig. You would want to put some on a powder puff to be sure you don’t apply too much. If you apply too much powder to the wig it will give the wig a gray look. After applying the powder you will want to shake off any excess. If that didn’t remove enough of the shine you will want to repeat until the desired look is achieved.

*Another common way to remove the shine is to soak in vinegar for 5 minutes. After it has soaked you will want to remove from the vinegar rinse it thoroughly and allow to air dry fully. You do not want to blow dry or apply any type of heat to it because the fibers are not heat resistant and you could damage the look of the wig.

How to Wash a Full Lace Wig

It is extremely important to familiarize yourself with the texture of your full lace wig. Use products that work well with your unit’s texture! Products you use on your own hair type may not work well on your full lace wig.

Step 1
Before washing your full lace wig, brush gently, or use a detangling comb from the tips of the wig to the base/roots. Never begin combing at the top or middle, this will damage and tangle the unit.

Step 2
Place your full lace wig on a Styrofoam wig head and use T Pins to secure.

Step 3
In a spray bottle, mix a capful of shampoo and fill the remaining with cool water. It is important to choose a shampoo that is suitable for your full lace wig's texture. Products that may work well are Silicon Mix, Nearly Natural, Ionix, Dove Moisture Intense, Nexxus, Aveda, Paul Mitchell etc

Step 4
Place your full lace wig on the Styrofoam head under a gentle stream of cool water. Pour or spray the shampoo mixture evenly over the wig and use a wide tooth rounded end comb to distribute the shampoo. Remember to always comb starting at the ends of the hair to the roots.

Step 5
Rinse the unit thoroughly on the wig head using a gentle stream of cool water.

Step 6
In a spray bottle, mix a capful of conditioner and fill the remaining with cool water. It is important to choose a conditioner that is suitable for your full lace wig's texture. Products that may work well are Silicon Mix, Nearly Natural, Ionix, Mane N Tail, Dove Moisture Intense, Nexxus, Aveda, Paul Mitchell etc

Step 7
Place your full lace wig on the Styrofoam head under a gentle stream of cool water. Pour or spray the conditioner mixture evenly over the wig and use a wide tooth rounded end comb to distribute the conditioner. Remember to always comb starting at the ends of the hair to the roots.

Step 8
Rinse your full lace unit thoroughly on the wig head using a gentle stream of cool water.

Step 9
Towel blot your full lace wig gently in a patting motion, while still on your wig head.Spray on leave in conditioner if desired and allow to air dry. This is a great time to part or apply foam/setting lotion.

Step 10
To minimize shedding, apply knot sealer. Once your unit is dry, simply Invert lace base to expose knots. use a plastic cap to protect the hair. Shake sealer contents well, hold bottle upright and aim at lace-base. Spritz on Knot Sealer using mist pump being careful not to allow excess sealer to penetrate into hair. Blow dry. Repeat as needed. (WE RECOMMENDED TWO COATS) Creates a long-lasting invisible seal that is permanently flexible!

Installing a Full Lace Wig or Lace Front Wig

Now that you’ve decided to buy a lace front wig, lets talk about the application. The wonderful thing about full lace wigs is that you can apply them yourself and achieve a flawless look just as you would if you went to the salon.

First things first, Preparation!
-Gather your application products and line then up for easy access. Prepare your hair by wrapping, pin curling or braiding your own hair.

-Clip back all the baby hairs on your unit to avoid cutting them by mistake. By applying fray block (optional) this will prevent your unit from fraying and also extend the life of your unit.

-Carefully cut extra lace around the perimeter of the wig to where the hair is knotted, being careful not to cut into the baby hairs. Take your time with this process, as you do not want to cut too much off. We recommend cutting a little at a time.

-Apply alcohol or cleanser with a make up sponge to cleanse your skin around the edges of your natural hairline. The aim is to remove all excess oils from your skin. We recommend a make up sponge VS the cotton ball, as the cotton ball will sometimes leave traces of the cotton in your hairline. Apply scalp protector to area to be bonded. Let dry.

-Position the lace wig on your head. Use an eyebrow pencil; lightly trace the hairline of the wig onto your forehead, this will help you to apply your unit exactly where it looks most natural.
Using an application brush to apply adhesive just beyond your hairline as instructed by the lace wig adhesive manufacturer. Once the glue is ready (this will depend on the glue type) position lace wig on your head with hairline rolled back. Starting at the middle point of your forehead, bond wig to head by pressing down on one side, then the other, using the end of a tail comb. Bond front hairline first for lace front wigs, then the nape for full lace wigs. Use the back end of comb to press harder further securing lace front wig onto hairline. Allow time for glue to completely cure/dry before styling. (Usually 24 hours)

Tie the edges of hair with a silk or satin scarf until glue has fully set / cured.

Application with Adhesive/Tapes

-Prepare the lace wig, hair and skin as previously mentioned above.

-Cut the tape into desired shapes and attach firmly around the perimeter of your unit.

-Position the unit on your head. Remove the backing of the tape in sections, a little at a time.

Starting from the middle of the forehead, firmly press tape into skin with a tail comb.

-Tie the edges of the hair with a silk or satin scarf until the adhesive has set.

-PLEASE NOTE:
If you’re new to this process, please take your time; be sure to install your unit in a cool place to avoid sweating.

To achieve a longer hold, combine the use of liquid and tape adhesives. The tape helps preserve the lace by protecting it from frequent wear and tear. For tape/glue application, first apply glue to hairline, then apply tape to the front and nape of the wig. Press tape into wig firmly. When glue is ready, remove backing of tape and press the lace down into skin using a tail comb.
